Sunoco - 1232 CO Boiler Retube

Frank Lill & Son, Inc. was successfully awarded this boiler retube project at the Sunoco Girard Point Refinery in Philadelphia. The project consisted of a total retube of the CO boiler in the FCC unit 1232. The boiler is Foster Wheeler “D” type design, which was field-erected and commissioned in 1964 and is rated for 353,000# St./Hr. at a drum design pressure of 800 PSIG. The retubing consisted of replacement of the 12 economizer modules, all of the generating tubes (1,994 tubes) which included the screen tubes, roof tubes, and side wall tubes. In addition to the tubes, the refractory, insulation, and casing were also replaced. The hydro test of this unit was successfully completed on the first attempt.
